How the Price of Light Iron in 2023 will Affect You

Roberta Willson • November 16, 2022

2021 was at an all-time high for light iron prices; since May 2021, they have been high. Since May 2022, the price has been slowly declining, with prices near a 5-year low as of today. During the COVID pandemic and after, the market was trying to recover and the price of light iron certainly paid the price. As we prepare for the end of 2022 and enter 2023, here’s what to expect from the price of light iron.

Year in Review

As 2022 comes to a close and we look back, this year was very much a “rebound” year. Many industries felt the aftermath of the COVID pandemic in 2020 and in 2021. This year some industries were able to get their footing back. As we look forward to next year, we are hoping our industry continues with this trend and we can offer our customers the best pricing on light iron, used parts, and more.

Looking Forward to 2023

Experts are saying we can expect prices of light iron to continue to decline for the first part of 2023 but possibly begin to rise toward the second half of the year. As we hope these prices continue to drop, please note, these are only predictions, not guarantees, and are meant to help all of us plan for 2023.

What do these predictions mean for you?

The price of light iron will affect not only how much you can make when you sell to R. H. Willson, but also your everyday life. Many manufacturers base their prices on light iron pricing and simple supply and demand will affect several industries throughout the year. We are hopeful that the price of light iron will continue to improve as we close 2022 and move into 2023. As always, you can contact R. H. Willson for the most up-to-date pricing or stop by the yard.

Did you get a letter in the mail from the manufacturer, car dealership or even check online to find out that your vehicle has a recall? What should you do, how urgent is the recall, what steps do you need to take to ensure your vehicle is at its’ optimal preference level? First, let’s put it into perspective. While a recall is not something you should ignore; there are over 400 recalls a year that affect more than 25 million vehicles in the U.S. alone. In addition, the average vehicle will have 4 recalls in its lifespan and recalls never expire. Now that we have some perspective. What is the first thing you need to do once you become aware of your vehicle’s recall status? If you purchase your vehicle new or used from a dealership, contact them directly and they will advise you. If you purchased your vehicle through a private seller, contact the vehicle manufacturer and they are required by law to either repair the issue, replace the recalled item or refund the purchase price of the vehicle, minus depreciation.
